Revolution Classics: Bruce Arena beats Galaxy in Revs head coaching debut

With no MLS games for the foreseeable future, NBC Sports Boston will give New England Revolution fans a chance to get their fix by re-airing some classic games. On Saturday, we'll take a look back at Bruce Arena's first game as Revolution head coach vs. his former team, the L.A. Galaxy, in 2019.

Arena's Revolution head coaching debut was a success as he led his new group to a 2-1 road victory over an L.A. Galaxy team he coached for nine years. Cristian Penilla scored the Revs' first goal, and then it was Teal Bunbury who tallied the difference-maker.

After a sluggish start to the season with Brad Friedel as head coach, Arena rallied the Revs to a 6-0-2 record in the first eight games of his tenure in New England. The changing of the guard helped propel the Revolution to the MLS Cup Playoffs.
