Revs' Wilfried Zahibo named to 2018 MLS All-Star team

New England Revolution midfielder Wilfried Zahibo has been named to the 2018 MLS All-Star Gameday Roster by MLS All-Star coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino. Zahibo is one of 26 players selected to represent MLS as it faces Italian powerhouse Juventus in the 2018 MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Zahibo is one of four newcomers selected to this year's All-Star roster, joining LA's Zlatan Ibrahimović, LAFC's Carlos Vela, and Atlanta's Ezequiel Barco. The complete 2018 MLS All-Star Gameday Roster is comprised of 26 players, including the All-Star Fan XI presented by Target, 13 players selected by Tata Martino, and the two Commissioner’s Picks.

Midway through his debut MLS campaign, Zahibo is one of three Revolution players to appear in every match across all competitions. The 24-year-old native of Marseille, France, has made 17 appearances, one coming in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and contributed three goals and four assists. He leads all Revolution field players in recoveries (110) and successful passes in the opponent's half (288), and ranks third in successful passes (434), per Opta.

Zahibo's season highlights include an MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week nod after propelling New England to a decisive 4-0 win against Montreal on April 6, and an AT&T Goal of the Week nomination for his volley against the Impact on May 5.

Notable features of the $35 million facility include:

-- Three full-size, natural-grass fields (including one equipped with heating technology) totaling 337,500 square feet

-- First Team locker room exceeding 1,200 square feet

-- State-of-the-art gym featuring weight training equipment powered by a hydraulic air system

-- Hydrotherapy room with three pools, totaling 5,000 gallons in volume, slated for heat therapy, cold recovery, and accelerated rehabilitation with an underwater treadmill

-- 25-foot wide conditioning hill climbing 140 feet at a steep 10% grade on the perimeter of the First Team training fields

-- Spacious team dining and lounge space that features a 36-foot-long communal reclaimed wooden table

Here's a look inside the facility with photos of the locker room, weight room and more:

The new facility, located at 1776 Revolution Way, also has sustainable roots with a close connection to the surrounding environment.

The complex was constructed with locally sourced wood, glass and metal materials designed to integrate the facility into the wetlands behind Gillette Stadium, and the Revolution replanted 350 native trees, 550 shrubs and over 1,000 grasses and plants to minimize disruption to the natural ecosystem.
