BYU boot-knocking conspiracy?

Pat Forde wrote a great story this morning about BYU's suspension of Brandon Davies.

You know, the kid who got booted out of school for 'doing it' with his lady.

Hitting the business is against Brigham Young University's honor code. So, despite the fact that the No. 3 team in the country is gearing up for the Mountain West tournament and a NCAA tourney run, Davies won't play another game this year.

Forde discussed the difficulty most of us have with comprehending the Mormon university's uber-conservative system. He also said that, while it's tough "to relate" to the honor code, you've can't help but respect it.

I agree completely.

If BYU's allegations against Davies are even true.

Losing Davies is a blow to the program -- the 6'9" forward is a double-digit scorer (11.1 ppg) and the team's leading rebounder (6.2 rpg) -- but it's not the blow that would be felt in losing the nation's leading scorer, Jimmer Fredette.

If the Jimmer Young University Jimmers lost... Jimmer... they would have immediately plummeted out of the Top-25. They would have been kicked out of D-I basketball. And scientists believe the state of Utah would simply burn up to ash and be wiped off the United States by a gust of wind.

Why bring this up? Because the girl Davies reportedly got busy with is rumored to be pregnant.

Makes sense, I guess. How else would the school find out about the guy's intimate relations? My question is, can we even be sure that Davies is the right guy?

Might this whole thing be a cover up to protect the real boot-knocker:

JIMMER FREDETTE?!

DID Brandon Davies take a bullet for his team by accepting Jimmer's baby blame, thus leaving Jimmer to reign (chastely) over the hardwood?

There's just one reason for creating such a conspiracy: Slow Thursday.

I don't actually believe that Jimmer broke BYU's honor code, I just had a laugh with a few co-workers over the idea and so decided to throw it out to the insatiable interweb wolves.

Can't wait for some to take this seriously (it's inevitable ), for Jimmer to consequently get suspended, and for the United States to be relieved of up-on-its-high-horse-Utah in a blaze of scandal.

Then, and only then, will I be more powerful than Charlie Sheen.
