Golden Tate asks Patriots QB Tom Brady to follow him on Twitter

Golden Tate won't be catching passes from New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady next season after taking his talents to the New York Giants in NFL free agency. However, the veteran wideout still wants to be friends on Twitter.

In case you didn't hear, Brady is now on Twitter, and his first two tweets were part of an April Fools' Day prank where he fake retired

Tate was one of many people in the sports world to respond to Brady's first ever tweet, and the wide receiver penned a thoughtful message to Brady on Monday that included a follow request. Here's what he said:

Tate said earlier in the offseason that he would "love" to play for the Patriots, and New England reportedly made a trade offer for him last season when he was still playing for the Detroit Lions. Detroit ultimately dealt him to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brady, as of Monday afternoon, is following less than 100 people on Twitter and Tate isn't one of them (yet). He started the day with less than 20,000 followers despite joining Twitter in March.
