2020 NBA Mock Draft 3.0: No clear-cut choice at No. 1

2020 NBA Mock Draft 3.0: No clear-cut choice at No. 1

BOSTON -- With about six weeks of NBA games left to play, there’s a heightened level of uncertainty as to who will be the No. 1 overall pick.

There is no Zion Williamson in this year’s draft; that is, a player who would be the top pick regardless of who is on the clock.

This is a draft where the top picks are going to address specific team needs as opposed to most drafts where the value of the early selections is how they enhance a team's overall talent.

And just like there’s no clear-cut No. 1 pick, there’s going to be quite a bit of jockeying among NBA teams as far as who will have the best shot at landing one of the top picks.

That said, here’s the current draft order based on records and the player those respective teams are likely to select.

BOSTON — In the world of college basketball, this is about that time when teams and players start to heat up in order to make a strong push towards March Madness.

And as they play better and gain more notoriety, the end result is often their stock in the eyes of NBA executives, also taking a bit of a bump too.

For Danny Ainge, the next several months will be busy on multiple fronts.

Not only are the Celtics fighting for playoff positioning in a crowded Eastern Conference field of contenders, Boston could also have three first-round picks in this June's draft. That means a lot of college studs and international prospects to scout.

Here’s a look at some of the top college players likely headed to the NBA next season, as well as a host of international talent that will also be in the draft-day mix in June.

BOSTON --  Workouts for draft prospects are a thing of the past now. All those months spent by NBA executives and bleary-eyed scouts watching one video after another of some wannabe NBA baller have come to this.

The NBA draft will kick off in earnest tonight, a draft many expect will include teams flipping picks the way the Phoenix Suns hire - and fire - coaches (they’re on No. 8 within the past 11 years).

In what most agree is a good, but not great, draft, those teams with multiple first-round picks, such as the Celtics, are doing what they can to unload their first-rounders in hopes of landing more seasoned talent.

Still, that was the case in 2016 when the Celtics last had a trio of first-round picks and were eager to trade at least one of them before winding up with Jaylen Brown at No. 3, along with Guershon Yabusele (No. 16) and Ante Zizic (23) in the first round.

Boston may once again wind up with three first-round picks, all of whom will be selected from a similar pool of talent because of each pick’s proximity (Nos. 14; No. 20 and No. 22) to one another.

Regardless, the Celtics focus remains on figuring out the best way to bolster a roster that’s now in serious transition.

And the first real crack at doing that begins now.
