USWNT Rebounds With NZ Win, Youngest Olympian Eliminated, More: Tokyo Olympics Day 1 in Pictures

For the first day of the Tokyo Olympics, the US Women’s soccer team rebounded from their disappointing loss to Sweden with a 6-1 victory against New Zealand, while Brody Malone and Sam Mikulak delivered a strong showing for the men’s gymnastics qualifiers, netting fourth place for the US. The US Women’s water polo team also dominated, coming out with a 25-4 victory against host Team Japan.

Yang Qian snagged the first gold medal of the Tokyo Olympics, coming in first in the women’s air rifle match for China.
