10 teams that may trade for Lions' Matthew Stafford, how it affects Bears

With reports that Matt Stafford and the Detroit Lions are set to split, rampant speculation has begun as people try to pin down where Stafford will land. Could he be the man to finally solve the Bears’ quarterback woes? Any fan who’s watched Stafford in any of his 20 games against the Bears can see he’d be a huge upgrade, and likely the best quarterback for the Bears this millennium. And with two years and $43 million left on his contract, according to Spotrac, Stafford is a relative bargain at the position. But realistically, it’s not going to happen. Many teams have shaky QB situations going forward, so why would the Lions trade Stafford to a team they’ll have to face twice a year? Detroit and Chicago haven’t worked out a trade since they swapped first-round picks in 1976, so it’s unlikely they’ll make new history for a deal involving a franchise quarterback. That being said, where Stafford ends up could start a chain reaction that could open up even more opportunities for the Bears to find their next QB. Scroll on to see where Stafford may end up when the window for teams to trade opens up on March 17.
