Bears 2019 NFL Draft picks have least value of any team

The Bears don’t have the fewest draft picks of any team in the NFL this year, but the value of those picks are particularly low given where they fall in the draft and where the Bears finished in the 2018 season.

René Bugner on Twitter used the draft trade value charts of Jimmy Johnson and Chase Stuart to calculate to the total value of every team’s set of picks, and the Bears five are the lowest in the league.

The Seattle Seahawks are the only team with fewer draft picks (4) this year, but they still have their first rounder, which holds a lot more value than all of the Bears’ late-round picks.

The Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints are the only teams besides Chicago that don’t have first-round picks, and Ryan Pace is the only general manager without a draft pick before the third round.

The Bears did pick up an extra seventh-round pick when they traded Deiondre’ Hall to the Philadelphia Eagles in September, but those rarely pan out into any kind of contributor.

Pace has found gems in the late rounds before, and the Bears will need more of the same from the young general manager at the end of April.
