Bears fans have clamored for Ryan Pace to swing a trade for a kicker from the west coast, just not this one.
While Robbie Gould remains with the San Francisco 49ers, Chicago is sending a conditional 2021 seventh-round pick to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for kicker Eddy Pineiro.

An undrafted rookie free agent out of Florida last offseason, Pineiro was 3-for-3 in one preseason game for the Raiders last season before landing on injured reserve with a groin injury.
On Eddy Piniero: His college kicking coach @KornblueKicking texted me “He. Is. The. Man.” Strong leg, “has the mental edge.” Thinks Piniero is “perfect” for the Bears’ situation.— JJ Stankevitz (@JJStankevitz) May 6, 2019
In college, he was the Gators all-time leader in career field goal accuracy, hitting 88.4 percent of his kicks. In 2017, he hit 17-of-18 field goals, going 2-for-2 from beyond 50 yards.
Pineiro went somewhat viral for hitting an 81-yard field goal in practice back in 2017, showing plenty of the leg strength the Bears seem to desire in the position.
He joins a kicker competition in Chicago with former Pittsburgh undrafted free agent Chris Blewitt and former Alliance of American Football kicker Elliott Fry, who both survived the team’s eight-player tryout at rookie minicamp last weekend.
