Bears have two of NFL.com's top 50 upcoming free agents

The Bears have the luxury of having few major needs to fill when the new league year starts in March.

Ryan Pace has plenty of his own free agents to decide on, but only two starters (outside of special teams) aren’t locked in for 2019.

Both of those starters happen to be two of the top free agents set to hit the market.

NFL.com ranked their Top 101 free agents of 2019, and both Bryce Callahan and Adrian Amos cracked the top 50.

Callahan was the third-highest ranked cornerback on the list, coming in at 34 behind Ronald Darby and Bradley Roby. The NFL.com writers called the young Bears slot defender “one of the position’s premier playmakers prior to his season-ending foot injury.”

Amos wasn’t too far behind his teammate as the 41st ranked free agent, the fifth safety on the list. The writers cited Pro Football Focus’ high evaluation of the former fifth-round pick and mentioned a reunion with Vic Fangio in Denver as a possibility.

None of the Bears other pending free agents had much chance of making this list. Pat O’Donnell is in the conversation as one of the top punters set to hit the open market, but no player at that position would come anywhere close to the top 101 across the board.
