Jakeem Grant wins NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Jakeem Grant was named the NFC Special Teams player of the Week on Wednesday, an easy choice after Grant returned a punt 97-yards for a Bears touchdown on Sunday Night Football.

It was a remarkable play, as Grant fielded the ball inside the five-yard line一 something you rarely see a return man try. It was also the first punt return for a touchdown across the entire league. The play was also the longest punt return for a touchdown in Bears history.

In all Grant returned three punts for 131 yards, good for a 43.7 yard average. He also had a big receiving touchdown, and became the first Bears player with both a punt return and receiving score in the same game since Devin Hester did it in 2010 against the Vikings.

This is the third time Grant has won Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He won the award once in 2018 and another time in 2020 with the Miami Dolphins.
