Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins passed away Saturday after being struck by a vehicle in Florida, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who received the information from Haskins' agent Cedric Saunders. Haskins was 24-years-old.

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields was Haskins' successor at Ohio State and was sad upon hearing the devastating news of his friend. He posted a picture of Haskins on his Instagram story.

"Don't even know what to say fr (for real)," Fields wrote. "Always made sure I was solid. RIP to my brother."

Haskins was the lone starting quarterback in 2018 for Ohio State and threw 50 touchdowns that season while Fields played for Georgia. Haskins played a part in recruiting Fields to play for the Buckeyes when Fields transferred from Georgia after the 2018 season.

Haskins was drafted 15th overall in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. He joined the Steelers prior to the 2021 season to be in competition for the starting quarterback job in 2022 following Ben Roethlisberger's retirement. Haskins would have battled for the position against Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky, who signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the Steelers in March.

Fields joined the Buckeyes in 2019 as a sophomore and passed for 3,273 yards and 41 touchdowns. In two seasons total, Fields led the Buckeyes to a 20-2 record with back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in school history.
