The fan who was shot and said he couldn’t die before seeing Justin Fields play for the Bears got the surprise of a lifetime on Monday. None other than the Bears’ rookie himself, came by to visit Scott Morrow as he continues to recover from his serious injury.
According to Block Club Chicago, Morrow was walking to a friend’s apartment just before 1 a.m. in Humboldt Park when he was hit by a stray bullet. He passed out shortly after but came to when officers found him on the sidewalk. Then Morrow thought about all the things he needed to stay alive to witness.

“Within a couple moments, I thought well, I’m 41, pretty much all of Chicago has gone our whole lives without even having great prospects for a franchise quarterback,” Morrow told 670TheScore. “I can’t die before seeing Justin Fields take the field.”
As Morrow said, most of Chicago has never watched a truly great franchise quarterback play— let alone meeting one of those players. But now Morrow has an experience he won’t forget for the rest of his life.
