Carson Wentz trade rumors pick up steam, Bears fans NOT happy

Another day, another round of wild quarterback trade rumors. After nothing but Deshaun Watson rumors earlier this month, pundits have started exploring other options. We heard about Derek Carr on Wednesday, Kirk Cousins and Jimmy Garoppolo on Thursday, now Friday’s plat du jour: Carson Wentz. And as always, the Bears seem to come up again and again.

Usually, Bears fans are extraordinarily hyped for each fresh tweet linking a QB to Halas Hall. However, Friday was a different story, with most fans (and even some media members) expressing extreme displeasure with a possible trade that would bring Wentz to Chicago.

Wentz is one of the more enigmatic quarterbacks rumored to be on the market this offseason. On the one hand, he looked like an MVP in 2017, leading the team to an 11-2 record before a torn ACL ended his season. As you likely remember, current Bears QB Nick Foles replaced Wentz and led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win over the Patriots.

On the other hand, Wentz looked truly awful last season. He finished the year tied for the league lead with 15 interceptions, despite only starting 12 games. Wentz was so ineffective, Doug Pederson benched Wentz for rookie Jalen Hurts midway through Week 13, and Wentz never saw the field again.

While no one really knows where everyone will land when the QB carousel finally comes to a stop, we do know it will at least be an interesting ride.
