ICYMI: Blackhawks Camp is underway, the Bears are on Monday night, and the Cubs have baserunning issues

Share

It's decidedly not summer anymore, evident by the cooler evenings and/or Cubs fans panicking about their bullpen. Hockey is underway, and the Bears are once again on primetime and looking for the first win of the year. Here's what you might have missed from this weekend:

Bears

/Hank Williams Jr. voice ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!

The Bears' kinda strange schedule continues, as they'll be under the lights on primetime for the second week in a row tonight with the Seahawks in town. Experts seem to like the Bears' chances,  our own Bears Insider J.J. Stankevitz included. We boldly predicted, among other things, that Mitchell Trubisky will throw the longest TD pass of his career tonight, and Allen Robinson is going to grab two scores of his own. With the Seahawks a shell of their former self, tonight's game presents the Bears defense a chance to really prove themselves. The Seahawks come into Week 2 a little banged up on both sides of the ball, and fans will be looking for a big game from Trubisky -- given how some of the QBs drafted afer him are performing

Cubs

The Cubs dropped two of three against the Reds this weekend. Though their magic number still dropped thanks to a Brewers loss, there are some real concerns about this team. With Pedro Strop sidelined, players like Jorge De La Rosa continue to embody the Cubs' #EverybodyIn mantra. We got a fun moment including Ian Happ and waffle makers, and Ben Zobrist was spotted biking to Wrigley in his uniform, so the weekend wasn't a total wash.

Blackhawks

Camp is officially underway, and it's already clear that the Saad-Schmaltz-Kane line has potential to be one of NHL's best. Here are the storylines to look forward to as the season gets closer. In injury news, Corey Crawford admitted that he's still dealing with the effects of a concussion -- it's not clear how long his timeline to a full recovery is. Brent Seabrook had some interesting quotes about trying to hold off Father Time, too.
