Jay Cutler's Mother's Day Instagram about Kristin Cavallari raises questions

Chicago's been at the forefront of sports conversation over the last month, and one story above them all has the eyes of a nation glued on the Windy City:

Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari's Last Dance:

Episode 1: The couple decided to go on a luxe vacation in the Bahamas in late March/early April.
Episode 2: The couple then gets stuck on a luxe vacation in the Bahamas due to travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Episode 3: Home from their luxe vacation in the Bahamas, both post on their Instagram accounts – using the exact same copy – that after 10 years of marriage, they'll be getting a divorce.
Episode 4: Episode 4, man. Episode 4 is when things go off the rails. In Episode 4, the gossipy corner of the Internet is filled with "anonymous sources" speculating that Cavallari is divorcing Cutler because the former Bears' QB is "lazy" and "unmotivated." Zoinks! Tough look for our QB. Also a tough look for the use of anonymous sources.

Which brings us to Episode 5. It was Mother's Day on Sunday, and Cutler posted a sweet message of appreciation, which is a classy move for someone going through a notably not-classy divorce:

Aw! Jay, this is nice. But... is it... maybe too nice? For the uninitiated among us, here's some important context about Jay Cutler's Instagram account: he doesn't run it. Back in 2018, USA Today did a story about the couple, and in that story Cavallari is quoted as saying, "I think there needs to be a little clarification on Jay’s Instagram. It’s not him running it. It’s me. It’s what Jay would have if he had Instagram."

To be fair, the name of his account is *literally* "ifjayhadinstagram." Subtlety isn't really their thing. So it begs the question: did Kristin Cavallari post about how great she is on Jay Cutler's Instagram? If so, point, Cavallari. What's he going to do? Delete the adorable picture of his kids with their mother? Cutler hasn't seen this type of defensive scheme before. Someone get Mike Martz on the phone.
