Khalil Mack ranked 17th on Pro Football Focus' All-Decade Top 101

Pro Football Focus concluded their ranking of the top 101 players from the last decade on Thursday, and edge rusher Khalil Mack finished as the highest-ranked member of the Chicago Bears.

Mack ranked 17th.

In his first year in the league, Khalil Mack was already one of the best run-defending edge rushers in football; by Year 2, he had become an elite pass-rusher; and in his third season, he became a game-changing wrecking machine. Four of his six seasons in the NFL have earned an overall PFF grade above 90.0, and he has never had a grade lower than 86.0. Only coming into the league in 2014 worked against Mack, who has been among the very best players at any position since he came into the NFL.

Mack's ranking seemed a tad disrespectful at first glance. He's considered one of the most lethal defenders in the NFL, after all. But his slotting does make more sense when you consider he's only been in the league for a little more than half of the last decade. Peyton Manning, who's a worthy contender to be called the best quarterback of all-time, is ranked 18th on this list. He retired in 2015, so like Mack, he didn't have a long enough tenure to surpass several of the players listed ahead of him.

Still, you'd have a hard time finding a football fan who wouldn't mention Mack's name as one of the top five or six players who've stepped on a football field since 2010. Even if his arrival to the NFL was a few years after the last decade began, his impact has been so incredible that it shouldn't really matter.

Mack's appeared in 94 games and has totaled 398 tackles, 61.5 sacks and 86 tackles for loss and two defensive touchdowns so far in his career.
