Khalil Mack tied for 13th highest-paid athlete in the world

When the Bears signed Khalil Mack to his six-year, $141 million mega extension last September, he instantly became the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.

It turns out, that doesn’t even crack the top 10 among athletes in the world.

Forbes released the list of highest-paid sports superstars, and the Bears outside linebacker was tied for 13th.

The business site lists Mack’s current pay at $55 million, tying him with Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton and boxer Anthony Joshua.

Their rankings combine salary and endorsements, and Mack would rank eighth in pure income from his NFL contract.

His contract included a $34 million signing bonus with up to $90 million in guarantees over the course of the deal.

The only NFL players making more money than him are all quarterbacks: Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

The top three highest-paid athletes are all soccer players, well over $100 million in total pay.
