Looks like D.J. Moore will wear No. 2 for the Bears

It looks like new Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore will be keeping his No. 2 jersey.

Kicker Cairo Santos has worn No. 2 for the Bears in recent seasons, but it looks like he will be moving to No. 8.

This is not confirmed, just some internet sleuthing and reading of tea leaves.

First, the roster on the Bears website lists Moore's number as 2 and Santos' as 8.

Moore was also seeing holding up a Bulls jersey with the No. 2 on it. He was notably at the game with quarterback Justin Fields and fellow wide receivers Chase Claypool and Darnell Mooney.

The only question left is whether or not Santos gave Moore the number out of the kindness of his heart or if the Moore paid up for it. Perhaps Santos offered it up and Moore offered a gift as a token of appreciations.

Moore also wore No. 12 with the Panthers, but that number is currently worn by Velus Jones Jr.

The Bears made the trade with the Carolina Panthers official on Wednesday. The Bears sent the No. 1 overall pick to the Panthers in exchange for Moore, the No. 9 overall pick, the No. 61 pick, a 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick.

"It's going to be real special," Moore told ChicagoBears.com. "I'm glad to be a part of the groundwork that's being laid. And to just build that foundation of winning, it's going to be something special."

Moore was considered a "must-have" in the trade and offers Fields the No. 1 receiver he's lacked.

The Bears insistence on having Moore was important to him.

"It makes me feel special," said the veteran receiver. "When a team does that—they just want one specific player—that means a lot. It hit home that I'm really welcome here."

And maybe it will feel a little bit more like home in his familiar No. 2.
