The running back announced his retirement from the NFL last week, but he will officially hang up his spikes and take his leave after signing a one-day contract with the Bears to go out in orange and blue.

Forte announced the news to J.J. Stankevitz and Chuck Garfien on NBC Sports Chicago's Facebook Live Monday afternoon:

Forte, 32, spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets, but prior to that, enjoyed eight years in Chicago as one of the best all-around backs in the game. He racked up 12,718 yads from scrimmage and 64 touchdowns in those eight seasons. He set the Bears franchise record for catches by a running back with 102 in 2014.

Forte made it to two Pro Bowl teams (2011, 2013) with the Bears and notched 150 rushing yards in two postseason games following the 2010 regular season.
