If you weren't up for an 25-minute video – and I don't blame you – here's the jist of it: Mayor Lightfoot is joining with pro sports teams across Chicago for the WE ARE NOT PLAYING initiative.
The announcement was highlighted by a video, played on the jumbotron, featuring dozens of Chicago pro athletes filming short PSAs on the importance of staying home and social distancing. Shortly following the press conference, the teams took to social media to help push the message:
Team owners have also released their own statements, most of which just echo the mayor's sentiments. Listen to your favorite sports teams! Stay at home!
