Mike Ditka’s restaurant in the Gold Coast neighborhood is closing due to the economic impact of COVID-19, and the upcoming end of the restaurant’s lease.

Ditka’s announced they’d be closing in a statement released on Monday.

However, they didn’t close the door on opening other restaurants around the city.

“We will continue to pursue future opportunities to open restaurants in Chicago and other locations,” the statement said.

Ditka’s first opened in Gold Coast in 1997.

The former Bears coach’s other restaurants-- Ditka’s in Oakbrook Terrace and Pittsburgh, and Grill 89 in Westmont-- will remain in business.
