Mitch Trubisky's career with Bears hits new low with decline of 5th-year option

In case you were blinded the sun's brief appearance in Chicago this weekend, it was reported that the Bears are declining Mitch Trubisky's fifth-year option

Regardless of where you stand on how expected – or prudent – the decision was or was not, avoiding the final year of the quarterback's rookie contract is the latest in a line of offseason moves that Ryan Pace has used to signal the end of the Trubisky era in Chicago. Gone are the on-record reassurances from Pace; Chase Daniel's on the Lions now, too. It'd be wrong to say that Trubisky's future with the team is uncertain, especially when the Bears made their point loud and clear this weekend.
