Bears down three scores, but Trubisky leading for Nick award

Update at 6:51 p.m.: Trubisky has officially won the “NVP” with 49% of the vote. In true “NVP” fashion he finished the game with a touchdown pass to Jimmy Graham.

The most fun thing of the Bears’ Wild Card game against the Saints on Sunday was flipping over to see whatever was going on in the Nickelodeon broadcast. There was slime in the endzone, googly-eyed cartoons, and some solid breakdowns of confusing football concepts

But the last laugh may be reserved for the fan “NVP” vote, for the “Nickelodeon Valuable Player.”

In a shocking turn of events, Mitchell Trubisky led all players in the “NVP” vote through the third quarter of the game, according to several Twitter posts.

Unfortunately by the time this intrepid investigative journalist logged on to check the results, the voting had closed, so NBC Sports Chicago will be unable to confirm the reports at this time.

One thing we do know: if the reports are true, either the vote has been hacked by trolls, or children have a lot more to learn about football.
