Nagy Now: Top 3 postgame comments after Bears' OT loss to Giants

The first thing Matt Nagy said to his team in the locker room had a positive spin.

“Be proud that we fought until the very end," Nagy said. "That was the first time this year we lost the turnover battle, and at the end we still had a shot to win. All that said, I absolutely love this team. I love where we’re at. This is life, man. How are you going to rebound back from it?”

The Bears find themselves in a spot they haven’t been in since Oct. 28, having to rebound from a loss. They won five straight before falling in overtime at the Meadowlands, and instead of going for two when they scored a late touchdown to make it 27-26 Giants, the Bears opted to go for one, and the tie to send the game into OT. Nagy said he was not tempted to go for two.

"We actually talked about it before we tried to prep ahead," Nagy said. "We said, ‘Hey, before this drive, we ought to score one or two?’ We all thought about it. I ultimately made the decision to go for one. I felt like we were in a good spot with our team. You could kind of feel where we were going. And they won the toss and had that first big play for a long gain.”

Chase Daniel was 26-of-39 for 285 yards, a touchdown and threw two interceptions. He was sacked five times.

“We weren’t really in rhythm," Nagy said. "We weren’t getting first downs. Starting the game with a pick-six, not how you want to start it. To his credit and the rest of the guys’ credit, they figured out a way to give us a chance at the end of the game, as hard as it felt throughout the game. He did everything we asked him to do. I appreciate how Chase has been this whole time and it’s who we are as a team, and I’ll never put a win or a loss on one guy.”
