Buzz that the Washington Football Team was interested in Mitchell Trubisky died quickly on Monday after reports that Washington was signing Ryan Fitzpatrick. But it got us thinking: Where could Trubisky realistically land once the QB carousel comes to a stop? Starting jobs are coming off the board, so a backup gig or an opportunity to compete for a starting job in camp could be realistic landing spots for the 26-year-old quarterback.Scroll for an updated look at the landscape for Trubisky.

We still don’t know what the Jets’ plan at quarterback is this year. Hell, the Jets might not know what their plan at quarterback is this year. On one hand, they can keep Sam Darnold and trade away the No. 2 pick for a bounty. On the other hand, they can trade him and draft a rookie QB. Either way, New York could bring Trubisky to compete for the starting gig.

Another team with a disappointing young quarterback. The Broncos drafted Drew Lock in the second round of the 2019 draft as their quarterback of the future, but in 2020, his 57.3% completion rate ranked dead last in the league. He carried a less-than-inspiring 16:15 TD:INT ratio as well. With no one to compete with Lock, the Broncos could consider bringing in Trubisky to fight for the job.

There was buzz earlier this offseason that the Raiders could be open to trading Marcus Mariota. If Mariota’s on the move, they’ll need a new backup for Derek Carr. Clearly, GM Mike Mayock values high-end backups, rostering Mariota in 2020 and Mike Glennon in 2019. Trubisky could fit that bill.

Throughout the offseason there have been rumors that the Niners aren’t locked into Jimmy Garoppolo as their starter for 2021. There was talk he could be traded if San Francisco thought it could get an upgrade in return. While Trubisky isn’t a clear upgrade over Garoppolo, he could be brought in for competition. For what it’s worth, Mike Garafolo reported that Trubisky is on the Niners’ list of potential free agent acquisitions.

With Carson Wentz out of the building, the Eagles look poised to turn over their offense to Jalen Hurts. But they don’t have any other quarterbacks on the roster, with Nate Sudfeld set to become a free agent. Trubisky could round out the room and provide continuity in the Eagles offense as another dual-threat quarterback.
