When the Bears traded for Nick Foles, a clear message was sent to incumbent starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky: You’re going to have to earn your job next season.
That said, it still seemed Trubisky would have the inside track to win the Week 1 starting gig. He knows Nagy’s scheme, he’s familiar with pass game coordinator Dave Ragone, and generally should have more comfort in the offense — at least early in the season.
But taking a look at the betting lines, it’s clear that oddsmakers think differently, especially after the Bears reportedly declined Trubisky’s fifth-year option.

One daily fantasy betting site has Foles as the clear favorite to be the Bears’ Week 1 starter.
As of Monday afternoon, the odds for Foles to win the job were -320-to-+200. Compare that to early April when things were much more even with Foles at -135-to-+105.
If there’s no training camp before the 2020 season begins, would it impact the competition at all? Or do all of the moves the Bears made this offseason point to them moving on from Trubisky, no matter what?
