NFL Power Rankings 2020: Post-Super Bowl 2021 edition

Share

Tom Brady and the Buccaneers are your Super Bowl LV Champions. The Bucs defense tormented Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes all game, and Mahomes made some remarkable passes that weren't even caught. But here is how every NFL team ranks after Super Bowl LV and heading into the offseason, with some coaching hirings and quarterback movements made.

David Culley? OK, then. It continues to be a mess in Houston and the stare down with Deshaun Watson figures to last a long time.

2/32

The Eagles are headed for a full rebuild. They'll eat a ton of dead cap space in 2021 (including Wentz's contract) but be in much better shape in 2022.

3/32

If the Jets are sold at BYU quarterback Zach Wilson at No. 2 -- and he has a chance to be special -- then they'll likely trade Sam Darnold sooner rather than later.

4/32

Cincinnati has to feel good about their quarterback situation, but what about everything else? Head coach Zac Taylor needs to make jump in Year 3.

5/32

Seems like it's time for the Falcons to draft another quarterback. North Dakota State's Trey Lance is an intriguing fit there.

6/32

The Broncos made a run at Matthew Stafford and he would have been a great fit there. Denver could be a sleeper in the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes.

7/32

Stafford seemed like a good fit in New England, but Bill Belichick will have to look elsewhere for his next quarterback.

8/32

Dan Campbell has assembled a great staff, the front office has respectibility with John Dorsey, and now the Lions have a lot of draft capital after the Stafford trade. Detroit is at least acting like a professional franchise now.

9/32

The Giants improved just enough to cost themselves a top 10 draft pick. Now they need to hope a quarterback like Justin Fields falls or they'll have to trade up.

10/32

The Panthers reportedly gave Detroit a strong offer for Matthew Stafford that included this year's No. 8 overall pick and Teddy Bridgewater.

11/32

There's been enough smoke to suggest Jon Gruden is ready to groom a new quarterback. Derek Carr would be an interesting target for the Bears if he's available.

12/32

The Bears were interested in Matthew Stafford and now they might be making a push for Carson Wentz. Until they make a move, they're going to be in the mix for every available quarterback.

13/32

Will the Jaguars be a popular destination this offseason? They have a lot of money, Urban Meyer and probably Trevor Lawrence.

14/32

Kliff Kingsbury still has a lot to prove as an NFL head coach. The Cardinals didn't exactly end 2020 on an encouraging note.

15/32

The Cowboys will likely franchise tag Dak Prescott, which will put them in position to either sign him to a fair deal or trade him for a huge return.

16/32

The Kirk Cousins-to-San Francisco rumors are interesting. The Vikings have to know they aren't winning a Super Bowl with Cousins, but who can they realistically acquire that would be an upgrade?

17/32

I'm not sure any organization has undergone a more successful makeover in the last year. Now Washington just needs a new name and a new quarterback.

18/32

If I'm the Dolphins, I don't bail on Tua Tagovailoa unless I can land Deshaun Watson. However, I'd consider drafting BYU QB Zach Wilson if he's there at No. 3 overall.

19/32

Kyle Shanahan seems motivated to upgrade at quarterback and that desire might have increased after the Rams landed Matthew Stafford.

20/32

The Titans are a good team, but they need to get much better on defense to be taken seriously as Super Bowl contenders.

21/32

New OC Matt Canada seems to have a new job every year, but he's innovative on offense and should bring new ideas to that Steelers offense.

22/32

Drew Brees is set to retire and I find it hard to believe the Saints are going to roll with Jameis Winston and/or Taysom Hill.

23/32

Brandon Staley has a lot of talent to work with on defense and Justin Herbert could explode into a star in 2021. The pairing with OC Joe Lombardi, who came over from New Orleans, is intriguing.

24/32

Kevin Stafanski won NFL Coach of the Year and there's a solid group of talent for the Browns to build on.

25/32

Colts general manager Chris Ballard knows he needs a good quarterback to make a serious run at a Super Bowl, but he's also not willing to overpay. Carson Wentz in Indianapolis with Frank Reich would be interesting.

26/32

One of the most consistent organizations in football managed to keep their brain trust together. Now they hope they can get more consistency from their offense after plucking Shane Waldron away from Sean McVay and making him the new Seahawks offensive coordinator.

27/32

The Ravens aren't going anywhere, and if they can Lamar Jackson playing at an elite level again for a full season, they'll be in the mix for the Super Bowl next season.

28/32

The Rams gave up a lot for Matthew Stafford and that might hurt them in 2022 and 2023, but there's no doubt he's a signifcant upgrade at quarterback in 2021.

29/32

The Packers made Mike Pettine their scapegoat, but were dealt a blow when Wisconsin DC Jim Leonhard turned them down. Matt LaFleur is still searching for a defensive coordinator.

30/32

With Josh Allen at quarterback, a good coaching staff and smart front office, there's no reason to think the Bills are going to drop off in 2021.

31/32

I admittedly underestimated the Chiefs' losses on the offensive line. Todd Bowles' defense had Patrick Mahomes running for his life the entire game. Mahomes did everything he could, but Kansas City was simply overmatched.

32/32

It's remarkable how ordinary the Buccaneers' defense made the Chiefs look on offense. Tampa started No. 4 in these rankings back in September and they finish No. 1 after a dominating Super Bowl victory. Tom Brady's career might never be matched.
