Report: Bears in enhanced COVID-19 protocols

The Bears have reportedly re-entered “enhanced” COVID-19 protocols. In a tweet from Adam Schefter, the Bears were listed as one of seven teams in the enhanced protocols, following a massive COVID-19 outbreak across the league.

The Bears have added four players to the reserve/COVID-19 list since Monday, and have five players currently on the list: Eddie Goldman, Artie Burns, Mario Edwards, Jr., Elijah Wilkinson and Sam Kamara. A team representative declined to comment on whether the team had or hadn’t re-entered enhanced protocols.

Those “enhanced” protocols include mandatory mask wearing inside team facilities and daily testing for all players and staff, regardless of vaccination status.

On Wednesday, players expressed that they’re taking the spike in positive cases across the league seriously, but they’re not worrying about an outbreak at Halas Hall.

The team entered enhanced protocols earlier this season, after Matt Nagy tested positive for COVID-19, and four other players were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. But they came out of those enhanced protocols some time later.
