When each new wrinkle of the Russell Wilson trade drama comes into the spotlight, it’s usually another indicator that Wilson could be on the way out of Seattle. But on Monday, Mike Silver added a new report about the possible timeline for a trade. Or at the very least, a timeline for when we may know if Seattle plans to truly move on from Wilson, or keep him for another season.
“Right now it is absolutely frosty, and this is a fluid situation,” Silver said on the NFL Network. “I think we’ll have a lot more resolution by next week.”
Again, this doesn’t mean Wilson will be moved next week, but maybe we’ll know about the Seahawks’ plans for Wilson next week. That could be an indication that Seattle won’t trade Wilson until next offseason, or news that Wilson and the Seahawks have repaired their relationship. Or, who knows, maybe Ryan Pace and John Schneider shock and actually make the deal earlier than anyone expected?
Either way, Silver went on to confirm last week’s report from Dianna Russini that the Seahawks were in fact fielding calls about a possible Wilson trade.
“There is smoke, and there is fire. We don’t know what the outcome’s going to be, but there absolutely are trade talks involving the Seahawks and other teams in relation to Russell Wilson… Does that mean it’s going to happen? I wouldn’t say that. I think it’s something that theoretically could be patched up. But remember, this isn’t just the Seahawks saying, ‘Hey, we want to see what’s out there.’ You have a player who is clearly very, very unhappy.”
