Richard Sherman has a lot of praise for Kyler Gordon

The Chicago Bears have made their first pick of the 2022 NFL Draft in the second round, Washington cornerback Kyler Gordon.

Gordon fills a big hole in the Bears' secondary and is penciled in to play opposite Jaylon Johnson, a second-round pick from 2020.

And immediately, five-time All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman was praising Gordon.

"He is a heck of a player. He works hard," Sherman said.

Sherman said he's known Gordon since he was in high school, and noted Gordon trained with himself, Bobby Wagner and other Seahawks players.

Seattle was known for their defense and famed "Legion of Boom," so not a bad group to be under the tutelage of as a young player.

And it paid off, Gordon didn't allow a touchdown in 18 college starts

ESPN's draft analysts were quick to praise the pick as well.

"He's just a tough, Matt Eberflus-type of football player," noted Bears fan Louis Riddick said.

And Mel Kiper noted Gordon could have an impact on special teams as well.

"One thing that goes unnoticed: He was named special teams MVP two years for the Washington Huskies," Kiper said.

If everything pans out the way general manager Ryan Poles hopes, Gordon and Johnson will be the Bears' cornerback tandem for years to come.
