Despite no official announcment from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it's being reported that QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the start today:
To no one’s surprise, Buccaneers’ quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to start Sunday vs. the Chicago Bears, per league sources. Bucs continue to decline to announce their starting QB vs. Bears. pic.twitter.com/KwyuhRXrHY— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 30, 2018
Fitzpatrick, who filled in for suspended QB Jameis Winston over the last three weeks, put up gaudy numbers for Tampa Bay. He'a already thrown for over 1200 yards with 11 TDs, good for a 124.8 passer rating. He even set an NFL record as the first QB to ever throw for 400+ yards in three consecutive games.
With Winston returning from his suspension this week, the status of today's starter remained up in the air all week.
Reports also indicate that Fitzpatrick almost got benched in the Bucs' loss to Pittsburgh on Monday night, implying that he might be on a short leash on Sunday.
