Trubisky on LeBron James leaving Cleveland: ‘We've seen this happen before'

Mitch Trubisky isn't just the Chicago Bears starting quarterback. He's also a life-long Cleveland Cavaliers fan from his days growing up in Mentor, Ohio.

And just like every other Cavaliers fan on the planet, he's been faced with life after LeBron James yet again. James agreed to a four-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency, marking the second time he's left Cleveland for greener pastures. He signed with the Miami Heat in 2010.

"The city of Cleveland, the Cavaliers took a hit yesterday," Trubisky said at a quarterback camp on Monday. "Not much to say, personal decision and his choice. And I’m just excited about the Chicago Bears now. It’s football season as far as I’m concerned."

Trubisky has a different view of James' departure this time around, however.

"We've seen this happen before," he said later in the day on 670 The Score.

"I kind of have a whole new perspective being a pro athlete myself and everything that goes on behind the scenes and the decisions you have to make as an individual and for your family now."

And even though James is now a Laker, the impact he's made on Cleveland and its surrounding area is something Trubisky values.

"I've seen that impact being from that area, Northeast Ohio, and how he's inspired kids to be good in the classroom and on the field as well.

"He's put kids through college and made that area so much better financially and academically. It's been awesome to see. If everyone can have the positive impact that he's had off the field, then we'd be in a lot better shape."
