Trubisky says Bears offense is more complex than what he's used to

Mitch Trubisky represents the present and future of Chicago Bears football. He has to succeed. Anything less than living up to the hype that comes along with being the second-overall pick will be a failure for a franchise that's invested an entire offseason into his development.

One of those massive investments came via the coaching staff where Matt Nagy and offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich represent a new era of playcalling.

"We're going to spread the field and definitely use all our weapons," Trubisky said Monday during an appearance on SiriusXM's NFL radio. Trubisky, who will meet with Bears receivers a few times before training camp kicks off, said the offense will have twists and tricks that involve some of Helfrich's system when he was the coach at Oregon.

Much has been made about the Bears offense all offseason. That's to be expected after adding receivers Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller and tight end Trey Burton. In fact, pressure will be on Trubisky to take a big leap forward in his second season after a rookie year that ended with 12 starts, 2,193 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Bears' first training camp practice kicks off on July 21at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, where all eyes will be on Trubisky and his offensive teammates.
