When the Bears hired Matt Nagy to be their head coach, they were plucking a candidate from Andy Reid's coaching tree and hoping for the next Doug Pederson.
But lately Bears Twitter has been comparing Nagy to another, less desirable head coach... Adam Gase.
Gase is currently "trying his best to be the head coach of the New York Jets," according to a cleverly edited Wikipedia page. And the Jets are currently 0-9, so it's not a desirable comparison.
The Gase-Nagy comparison seems to have originated from a Dan Hanzus podcast, and Bears Twitter has run with it.
It might not be a fair comparison for Nagy, who has a .610 record as a head coach compared to Gase's .411. In Nagy's first two seasons the Bears went 20-12, while Gase's first two with the Dolphins were a perfect 16-16.
But Bears Twitter argues that the Gucci belt in this equation is the Bears' elite, Super Bowl caliber defense providing cover for Nagy's struggling offense and play calling issues.
The book isn't closed on the Bears' 2020 season yet. Nagy's still got seven games to right the ship.
