Tyrell Cohen, the twin brother of Bears running back Tarik Cohen, was found dead Sunday morning in a North Carolina power substation.

According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, it is believed Tyrell Cohen, 25, died of electrocution while climbing some of the equipment.

"We are heartbroken to learn of the death of Tarik Cohen’s twin brother, Tyrell," the Chicago Bears said in a statement released by the organization Sunday evening. "Our immediate thoughts and prayers go out to Tarik, his mother, Tilwanda, and the rest of their family and loved ones. On behalf of the entire Bears family, we extend our most heartfelt sympathies to all who mourn his loss.”

The discovery occurred around the time Tarik Cohen posted several messages on social media asking for help finding his brother, who had gone missing Saturday in Raleigh. In those messages, which have since been deleted, he said his brother was "possibly injured."

Multiple reports out of Raleigh said Tyrell Cohen was "fleeing from law enforcement" when he entered the Duke Energy substation.

Sadly, this is the second tragedy in the Cohen family in recent years. In 2019, Tarik's half-brother, Dante Norman, was shot and paralyzed from the waist down.

Cohen is from Bunn, North Carolina, just outside the Raleigh area, and played college football at North Carolina A&T.
