WATCH: Kevin White putting in work with Mitch Trubisky as Bears training camp approaches

When the Chicago Bears selected Kevin White with the No. 7 pick of the 2015 NFL draft, GM Ryan Pace and the rest of the Bears front office thought they secured a Dez Bryant-type playmaker. His size, speed and physical style of play combined for what appeared to be a can't miss.

Injuries have derailed that once promising scouting report, resulting in White appearing in only five games over three seasons. Even when White was on the field, he never quite looked like the guy who dominated defenses at West Virginia.

But that's the past, and as coach Matt Nagy has been saying since the day he was hired, White will have an opportunity to prove he deserves a significant role in the Bears offense not only for this season but the foreseeable future.

If there's going to be a future for White in Chicago, he has to have a breakout year in 2018. In order to get there, he needs to build chemistry with Mitch Trubisky, something he's been working on developing this offseason.

Take a look at these three videos of White running routes and catching passes from Trubisky that were posted to White's Instagram account:

White looks healthy and explosive, two things that the Bears haven't seen from him since his last collegiate game.

Chicago added several new weapons at receiver this offseason, including Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel and Anthony Miller. White knows he won't be given a starting job like he was in 2017. He has to earn it. That's usually what brings the best out of high-end athletes, and if White is the kind of player Pace thought he was in 2017, we'll see the best from him this season.
