Bergevin to become Canadiens' GM

The Blackhawks lost another member of their front-office staff today, as Marc Bergevin will be named the Montreal Canadiens new general manager.

Canadiens owner, president and CEO Geoff Molson will introduce Bergevin, the Blackhawks assistant general manager for the past season, at a press conference this afternoon, according to the teams website.

Bergevin, a native of Montreal, spent seven seasons with the Blackhawks. He was the Hawks director of player personnel for several seasons and was Joel Quennevilles assistant coach for the 2008-09 season.

Its another loss for the Blackhawks hierarchy and the second assistant GM in as many seasons to be selected for a GM job elsewhere. Kevin Cheveldayoff, who held the assistant GM post before Bergevin, became the Winnipeg Jets general manager last summer.
