Two assistant coaches are no longer with the Illinois coaching staff.

Head football coach Bill Cubit announced Wednesday morning that special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Alex Golesh and inside linebackers coach Mike Ward are no longer members of the staff.

Golesh and Ward both came over with former head coach Tim Beckman from Toledo and each spent four years as assistants at Illinois.

Golesh has already landed a new job. He left Illinois earlier this week to join the staff of new Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell. The Champaign News-Gazette reported shortly before Cubit's announcement Wednesday that Ward would be leaving the program, as well.

Cubit was named the Illini's permanent head coach last Saturday before the regular-season finale after serving as interim head coach for the previous 11 games in the wake of Beckman's firing.

Illinois finished its season at 5-7 but could still receive a bowl invitation after this week's games.
