Buckeyes stay at No. 3, Hawkeyes up to No. 5 in College Football Playoff rankings

The Big Ten now boasts two of the top five teams and six total teams in the College Football Playoff rankings.

Ohio State remained at No. 3 when the latest rankings were released Tuesday night, while Iowa moved up from No. 9 to No. 5, just on the outside of the top four and a spot in the Playoff.

The Buckeyes and Hawkeyes both improved to 9-0 with wins this past weekend, and both have three games remaining. Ohio State was jumped by Alabama, which defeated last week's third-ranked team, LSU. Clemson remained the No. 1 team, while the new No. 4 team was one-loss Notre Dame.

Elsewhere in the rankings, Michigan State plummeted from No. 7 to No. 13 following its first loss of the season against Nebraska. The Spartans, though — like two-loss Michigan, which rose from No. 17 to No. 14 — could still win the Big Ten East Division and a Big Ten conference title.

Northwestern climbed from No. 21 to No. 18 after a win over Penn State, while two-loss Wisconsin entered the rankings at No. 25.
