D.J. Williams back with Illini after short leave of absence

D.J. Williams' leave of absence from the Illini didn't last long, Illinois head coach John Groce telling reporters Friday that Williams was back with the team.

Right before Illinois' win over Michigan on Wednesday, the team announced that Groce and Williams had "mutually agreed" to the sophomore guard taking a temporary leave of absence.

The Chicago native and Simeon product has scored just 37 points in limited playing time this season. He's averaging 9.9 minutes a game, slightly fewer than the 11 minutes a game he averaged as a freshman during the 2015-16 campaign.

The Illini are back in action Saturday against Maryland. Groce said Williams will be available to play against the Terps.
