After just a few months at Ohio State, one of this year's top-ranked freshmen is already leaving.

Buckeyes head basketball coach Thad Matta announced Thursday that freshman guard Austin Grandstaff is leaving the program and will transfer to another school.

Grandstaff, a Texas native, was ranked by Rivals as the No. 44 recruit in the Class of 2015. He picked Ohio State over offers from Arizona, Georgetown, Iowa State, Marquette and Oklahoma, among others.

Grandstaff has appeared in all 10 games for the Buckeyes this season, averaging 4.4 points in 11.5 minutes per game. He hit 12 of his 36 3-point attempts.

After losing several of its top players this offseason, it's been a tough year for Matta and the Buckeyes, who sit at just 5-5 and face a top-five Kentucky team on Saturday.
