Bill Cubit's coaching staff continued to get an offseason makeover Wednesday, when the Illini announced that offensive line coach Tom Brattan wasn't retained.

Brattan spent the past two seasons as the Illinois O-line coach. This season, the Illini ranked dead last in the Big Ten in rushing offense, gaining an average of 129.2 yards on the ground per game. The Illini allowed 20 sacks, the seventh-best mark in the conference.

Brattan is the third Illinois assistant to depart since the end of the regular season. Special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Alex Golesh left to join the Iowa State coaching staff. Cubit announced that inside linebackers coach Mike Ward would leave the program on Dec. 2.

Cubit was given a two-year deal to stay on as the head football coach after serving as the interim head coach for the majority of the season in the wake of Tim Beckman's firing.
