Pros and cons of getting rid of Illinois basketball coach John Groce

John Groce's scorching hot seat has been well chronicled of late

Friday, the SportsTalk Live panel added their voices by breaking down the pros and cons of the Illini moving on.

"I don't root for guys to lose their jobs," Bleacher Report's Seth Gruen said, "but the product on the floor has been absolute crap."

Groce has spent five seasons in Champaign, amassing a .562 winning percentage with only one NCAA Tournament berth. If the Illini, who are firmly planted on the bubble, miss out on the big dance again this season, it marks the fourth consecutive season they'll sit on the outside looking in.

However, Groce's huge 2017 recruiting class may leave the door open for a return.

"There's only one argument to keep the guy," SB Nation Radio's Jason Goch said. "I agree, he's gone. It's if you think the recruiting class is going to leave, then you might give him one more year."
