Purdue is heading back to Lucas Oil Stadium in 2017, according to a Wednesday report.

According to ESPN's Brett McMurphy, the Boilermakers will open their 2017 slate with a game against the Louisville Cardinals at the home of the Indianapolis Colts.

The game, scheduled to be played on Sept. 2, would be the Boilermakers' second at the NFL stadium in a four-year stretch. Purdue played at Lucas Oil Stadium last season, dropping a matchup against in-state foe Notre Dame, 30-14.

Purdue and Louisville have only met once, a 22-all tie way back in 1987. It's a pretty safe bet that the second meeting between the two programs — which are fewer than three hours apart — will have a winner.

Theoretically, the Boilermakers could play at Lucas Oil Stadium prior to the game against Louisville, as the Big Ten Championship Game is held annually at the stadium. But Purdue hasn't exactly been in contention for a trip to the conference title bout in recent years.
