Terps announce four future games against Virginia Tech

Share

Maryland will soon renew an historic local rivalry. That is, if 10 years fits into your definition of soon.

The Terps will take on the Virginia Tech Hokies four times in the 2020s. Maryland will play host in 2026 and 2028, and Virginia Tech will be the home team in 2027 and 2029.

The two schools used to meet quite frequently, not only briefly being conference-mates in the ACC but also playing each other in 18 straight seasons from 1919 to 1936. Overall, they've met on the gridiron 31 times, the most recent meeting being a Terps win in 2013.

Maryland leads the all-time series, 16-15.

The addition of Virginia Tech to those four future schedules adds one more Power 5 conference foe to the list of future opponents. The Terps will play Texas in 2017 and 2018, Syracuse in 2019 and West Virginia in 2020 and 2021.
