WATCH: The controversial TD that propelled Huskers to upset of Spartans

Share

This one ought to be the subject of some conversation over the next ... well, maybe forever.

Nebraska upset Michigan State on Saturday night in Lincoln, ending the Spartans' undefeated season with a remarkable 91-yard touchdown drive in 38 seconds.

But the drive ended in an extremely controversial fashion.

Tommy Armstrong pitched a 30-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Reilly to give the Huskers the lead with 17 seconds to play. But Reilly went out of bounds before he caught the pass. Officials ruled that he was pushed out of bounds, allowing him to catch the pass legally, but replays seemed to show that wasn't the case, with Reilly drifting out of bounds rather than being forced out by the Michigan State defender.

The call was ripped apart on social media. And with the game in the balance, it was perhaps the difference between the Spartans continuing their undefeated season and having it end Saturday night in Lincoln.
