The Blackhawks hired Jamie Kompon to be the team's new assistant coach on Tuesday.

The 45-year-old Kompon spent the last six seasons as the Los Angeles Kings' assistant coach. Before that he spent nine years with the St. Louis Blues, first as video coach and later as an assistant coach. Most of Kompon's time with the Blues was during Joel Quenneville's tenure as head coach. Kompon was also video coach for Team Canada at the 2006 World Championships.

Jamie will bring us all the great qualities you look for in a coach, most notably his work ethic and a winning resume, Quenneville said. We have a great working relationship and I am confident he will be a great fit with us here in Chicago.

Before joining the Blues, Kompton was an assistant coach for the Baltimore Bandits (AHL) for the 1996-97 season. He was co-head coach at McGill University in Montreal in 1994-95, after spending three seasons as an assistant coach there.
