From Sept. 27-Oct. 6, Charlie Roumeliotis will profile one prospect per day — 10 total — leading up to the 2020 NHL Draft as the Blackhawks prepare to pick No. 17 overall.
Position: Right wing
Weight: 192 pounds
"Jacob is a skilled playmaker, scorer. It's funny because you read reports on Jacob, some are really raving about the playmaking, others are raving about his ability to snipe." — Blackhawks Vice President of Amateur Scouting Mark Kelley
"The versatile forward has one of the best shots in the 2020 draft class. He possesses an impressive offensive skill set with good vision and ability to make plays off the rush or with accurate passes in the offensive zone." — Mike G. Morreale, NHL.com
"Another fascinating player in this draft class, whose best trait is goal-scoring. Yet there are question marks about his play away from the puck." — Sam Cosentino, Sportsnet
Fit for Blackhawks:
The Blackhawks have a little inside information on Jacob Perreault, who is the son of former Chicago forward and current development coach Yanic Perreault. Yanic ranks No. 1 in NHL history in faceoff win percentage (62.8) among skaters with at least 500 draws.
Jacob's primary position is right wing, but he won nearly 58 percent of his faceoffs this past season in the OHL, where he led the Sarnia Sting in goals (39) and power-play goals (15) in 57 games. The Blackhawks are building quality center depth with Kirby Dach and Dylan Strome, but Jonathan Toews remains the only reliable faceoff specialist on the team, so Jacob checks an important box as a forward to go along with his offensive skill set.
