Kovalchuk bounced around three teams last season, but his best stretch came in Montreal, where he accumulated 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 22 games and averaged 18:54 of ice time. He can still produce on offense, but he's more of a depth guy at this point who can also play on the second power-play unit.

Soderberg is a dependable two-way forward who can play center or wing. He's recorded at least 40 points in a season four times and is coming off a season in which he scored 17 goals. At 35 years old, Soderberg would be a perfect bottom-six forward on a contending team and could be had for cheap on a short-term deal.

Athanasiou is one of the youngest free-agent players on the market. He's 26 years old and still hasn't reached his ceiling yet, although you wonder if he ever will. His best season came in 2018-19 when he recorded 30 goals and 24 assists for 54 points in 76 games for the Detroit Red Wings.

Hamonic is a right-handed shot shutdown defender who can also contribute on offense. He's registered at least 20 points in a season four times, and averaged 21:12 of ice time last season for the Calgary Flames.

5/10

Perry is coming off a season in which he compiled 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) in 57 games for the Dallas Stars. He had nine points (five goals, four assists) in 27 postseason contests, averaging 13:53 of ice time. He's more of a middle-six winger than a top-six guy at this stage of his career.

Duclair had a breakout season for the Ottawa Senators. He set a new career high with 23 goals, and was on pace to do the same in points before the COVID-19 pandemic halted the NHL season. He also averaged 16:16 of ice time, shattering his previous average of 14:23 during the 2015-16 season.

7/10

If you're looking for a reliable, well-rounded right-handed shot defenseman, Vatanen is the best option on the market. He's averaged at least 21 minutes of ice time in six straight seasons and has recorded at least 30 points in season three times.

Haula suffered a serious knee injury in 2018 and hasn't looked like the same player since, but he's certainly shown flashes. The skilled, playmaking forward registered 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) in 48 games last season. He's also a dependable penalty killer.

9/10

Granlund has recorded at least 40 points in five of eight seasons, and has hit the 60-plus-point mark twice. His best season came in 2016-17 when he registered a career-high 26 goals and 69 points in 81 games for the Minnesota Wild.

10/10

Hoffman is the best goal scorer on the market. He has scored at least 26 goals in five of the last six seasons and has hit the 70-point mark once. The 30-year-old winger ranks fourth in power-play goals (49) since the start of the 2016-17 season.
